We have a cluster and the master is the Integrity box.

OK, I found the copy of the queue manager database and queues on an ODS-2 filesystem on our Integrity box. Apparently we had a power outage and the change wasn’t made permanent – when the machines restarted they were pointing to the old location. I have restarted the queues for Mark pointed to the right QMAN$MASTER and it is now working. Thanks to all for your help!

I tried creating the QMAN$MASTER database on an existing ODS-2 filesystem on the VAX, but it doesn’t work (can’t start the queue from the Integrity). I get ”nosuchnode, remote node is unknown or not reachable.”, which is not true since I can ping it.

More generally, ODS-5 filesystems will not be visible to the VAX. The one exception is if one uses DECnet to access files.

So, to submit jobs to the VAX from Integrity, I’ve got to put my queue manager database on an ODS-2 filesystem?

That would be a good first start. You are correct, VAX knows nothing about ODS-5

OK, I think the problem is the QMAN$MASTER is on an ODS-5 filesystem and the VAX can’t read it. The Alpha can, though.

There is little info to go on here. If I understand correctly, you want access to a queue across an entire cluster correct. And… that cluster has members that are VAX, Alpha, and Integrity. Without knowing your environment a bit better, I can’t provide too many details, but you should be able to manage what you are attempting. Using the Integrity as the master, create the queues there. The queue managers from the other nodes should be able to coordinate with the integrity without any problems. If you can send me more details about your environment, I can reproduce it locally and perhaps provide a more details set of instructions on what to do.
